The Department of Library and Information Science provides students exposure to organize collection and manage libraries. It supports the goals of the institution through a program designed for the total development of information providers imbued with the Christian spirit of service, highest ethical standards and sense of responsibility. It aims to accomplish the following objectives:
To provide training for a professional career in library and information science through a well-rounded liberal arts education, course specialization, and actual application of theories,
To produce competent, value-oriented, dedicated professionals to serve as catalysts for development and societal change,
To answer the demands of institutions throughout the country’s regions for qualified librarians and information specialists to provide leadership and dedicated services in their own libraries,
To sustain the personal and professional growth of librarians by continually upgrading and adapting in the curriculum new trends and changes in the field of library and information science as well as conducting reviews for the licensure examinations, and
To extend community services by sharing professional expertise of the faculty and the assistance of Library Science students in helping organize library and information and reading centres.
